The Top MOVIES and TV SHOWS You Need To Be STREAMING In 2021! | MegsCoffeeBreak

With a lot more time on our hands (hopefully not for much longer), streaming websites such as Netflix and Disney+ have been saviours for entertaintment and sanity. However, everybody very quickly run out of things to watch and it got boring. That’s why I’m here to remind you of all the best TV shows and movies you need to watch if you haven’t done so already!

MOVIES

The entire MCU– Yes, all 23 of them. Addmitedly, I used to be very critical about these films and I definitely had my opinions about those who watched them (yes I know, bad person). Then I watched Iron Man and everything changed. The way all of these films interlink and feel like one huge TV show is insane! I could not believe it the first time I watched them through- I was hooked.

Here’s the MCU in chronological order if you decide to watch them all from the beginning: Captain America: The First Avenger -> Captain Marvel -> Iron Man 1 -> Iron Man 2 -> The Incredible Hulk (although don’t watch this one on my recommendation) -> Thor -> The Avengers -> Thor: The Dark World -> Iron Man 3 -> Captain American: The Winter Soldier -> Guardians of the Galaxy -> Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 ->Avengers: Age of Ultron -> Ant-Man -> Captain America: Civil War -> Black Panther -> Spider-Man: Homecoming -> Doctor Strange -> Thor: Ragnarok -> Ant-Man and the Wasp -> Avengers: Infinity War -> Avengers: Endgame -> Spider-Man: Far From Home. If you would like to see me rank the whole MCU best to last, let me know and I would be happy to share my opinion!

Pitch Perfect– After rewatching all 3 films not too long ago, I realised just how feel-good these movies actually are! They’re perfect for anybody of any age and any gender. All of them are great to put on if you’re feeling a little down and need a positivity boost. Grab a cuppa and have a sing along with them. Trust me, you’ll feel great for it. It’s also a classic throwback too.

Sausage Party– Not recommended for children! But surely you know that by now, if you don’t, where have you been? Now, I’m not going to say this film isn’t absolutely nuts but it is funny. It will simultaneous make you cringe, laugh and feel disgusted but I think it’s a staple movie that everybody needs to watch at some point. Don’t watch it with your family though, you certainly will save youreself some embarrassment.

Death to 2020– This is less of a film and more of a mockumentary but it’s definitely worth the watch. After one of the most horrendous years for all of us, it’s good to make fun of it a bit and just to have a laugh. It’s very American based, if that’s something you like and it covers the entire year- starting with the forest fires, leading to the whole pandemic which, you know, has only slightly taken over our lives recently.

Hunger Games- During the first lockdown, I re-read all of these books and I became totally obsessed just like I was when I was 14. It’s been such a long time since these films were all relevant but they are insanely addictive and yet another throwback. Considering the fact films are not being released as quickly as usual, it’s going to take a lot of watching throwbacks to keep us entertained.

Instant Family- This is one of those late night movies you find scrolling through Netlflix when you have nothing else to watch. I didn’t really go in with extremely high expectations; not that I assumed it would be bad, just didn’t think it would be anything special. But I will tell you now, I was pleasantly surprised and I really enjoyed the film. The actors are great, the storyline is very unique and it has an ideal amount of comedy. It’s a must- watch Netflix movie, in my opinion.

Mama Mia– If you’re looking for a perfect film to watch with the family then I definitely recommend Mama Mia! It’s one of those films you can watch 100 times and it will never get boring. Similarly to Pitch Perfect, if you just want something to improve your mood and to have a sing to then this is perfect. This one is just slightly more classic than Pitch Perfect. With the classic storyline and amazing ABBA songs, you have to rewatch Mama Mia soon. It’s too good not to.

The Hangover- This trilogy of movies is absolutely hilarious. They are great for the whole family (maybe not watching it together, however) and are also great as stand alone films. They’re ridiculously wacky and so unrealistic but it just adds to the pure chaos of these movies. The first 2 are slightly repetitive but the 3rd one definitely switched things up a bit and it unique compared to the others. Perhaps these are not for the younger viewers because of the drugs and drinking (hence it being called The Hangover) but perfect if you’re a bit older.

Ted– Just like Sausage Party, not recommended for the family. Ted is just one of those films you can throw on at any point for an easy watch. In my opinion, it’s a classic Friday night movie. It has the similar vibe as The Hangover in the fact is involves drink and drugs but it’s absolutely hilarious and will just give you a giggle.

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging- THE ULTIMATE GIRLS MOVIE! I have watched this a countless amount of times- always with my girls. The nostalgia of the olive running through the streets with ‘Shes so lovely’ playing in the background is just unmatched. If you’ve never watched this movie, get on it! It’s the most classic girls film ever and I have nothing but good words to say about this film. Well, apart from their annoying voices.

TV SHOWS

You– I’m not going to lie- this series is creepy! When we first started this series I didn’t think I was going to get involed in it. However, by the end of a couple episodes, I was hooked… badly. We managed to watch the entire series within a few days. As the episodes go on it gets more and more twisted and more secrets are unfolded. It’s a super interesting watch and I totally recommend it.

WandaVision– I’m going to need to contain myself writing about WandaVision because I could talk about it for HOURS. After you do your complete rewatch of the entire MCU, you must watch WandaVision. I won’t lie, it has a slow start which is very confusing, but stick with it because it gets so much better. Just like all Marvel movies, it has twists and turns that only true fans would ever see coming and it’s a mind-blowing series! 10/10 from me.

Good Girls– The idea for this series is such a good one! Following 3 middle aged women with children become out of control criminals is just so funny. It’s something completely different and it’s super addicting. I’ve watched this show many times now because it’s just so good- I cannot wait for the next season to come out. I will be binge watching that as soon as it becomes available.

All the sitcoms!- I love an American sitcom but I know they are not everybody’s cuppa tea also, they’re all very well known and a lot of people have watched them. This is why I’ve grouped them all together. Brooklyn 99 is my favourite sitcom to have been released, it’s so funny so I recommend watching that above all of the others. However, others consist of Friends, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl and The Big Bang Theory. They’re light hearted, easy watching and great to have on the go alongside a main series.

Superstore– I know this should have gone in the previous section but I’m giving it one of it’s own just for the fact it’s recently been added to the UK Netflix and so many people don’t know what it’s about. The only way I can describe it is the shopping version of Brooklyn 99. It follows a group of people who work in the store and what they do at work. It’s VERY similar to Brooklyn 99 with the characters and storylines so if you’re a fan of B99, you will love superstore.

The Good Place- This is another show that I have watched numerous times- I wish I could watch it through again without knowing what eventually happens. There’s a countless amount of twists and turns and a ton of character development which is always good to watch. The one thing I will say about it is that it gets very repetitive in the middle points and it really makes you question whether you should continue watching because you stop trusting certain characters. However, stick with it because it doesn’t last for very long and it picks back up!

Bad Education– This is VERY British so if you’re an American and just don’t understand British humour, this is certainly not for you. Jack Whitehall (legend) writes and stars in this show and it’s so funny. His role is as an adult- child teacher and he has a class which is known as ‘Special K’- enough said. It’s hilarious to watch. Something I would mention about what I like is the fact the main female character who is the ‘crush’, isn’t perfect. In a lot of series you find the main female character to be completely out of the others leauge. However in this, Rosie is so normal which is a nice factor.

The Crown- If you’re interested in the Royal Family then definitely watch this. It follows Elizabeth II in her role as the Queen and all her encounters with different world issues and other leaders. At times it can be very boring and hard to watch but the last seasons pick up a bit. I still found it very interesting to see inside their lives and I would recommend it to anybody else who may be interested.

After Life– Ricky Gervais stars in this show and he is just a really funny person. I wouldn’t recommend this show as much as the others I have included in the list- I just wasn’t a fan of it as much but I know other people loved it! So if you haven’t watched it, then give it a go and I would love to know what you think of it?

Friday Night Dinner– I love this show, I watched it all in 2 days straight during the first lockdown. It’s really funny anf follows a Jewsih family who get together every Friday night to have a catch up. Things never go to plan, however and their weird neighbour always finds a reason to come over. It’s really funny and I love all of the actors who were involved in this. Another 10/10 for me.

I would love to hear your opinions on what you think of these shows and films I have just suggested. After Boris’s announcement and the sun coming out recently, I hope we can all stay positive and get through the last few months of all of this craziness! However until then, let’s make the most of the days we can spend curled up on the sofa watching Netflix before summer returns and life once again becomes normal.
